Meet Jaffle! Future Chief Taste Tester. Dozer’s friend’s son. A little bundle of golden and soft joy!
48 hours of instant happiness
I didn’t expect to get a new puppy so soon after saying goodbye to Dozer. Honestly, I’m not sure when I’ll be ready. And I think that this time I want to adopt it. I had sent in my application, talked to Golden Retriever Rescue, and waited for the right time and dog.
Then I recently found out that Clem, one of Dozer’s friends, was pregnant and had puppies while I was hiding from the world for the last few months. When I met them, a little fluffball immediately stole my heart. A fat, fat boy, destined to be big and golden. Just like Dozer. 🥰

He wasn’t the first goldie I’d met since losing Dozer. But he was the first person who felt right. I picked him up 48 hours ago, and he’s already managed to wrap me in his chubby little paws. No surprises there!

Jaffle Q&A
-
Where did you get it from? From Kim Handley of Giltedge Golden Retrievers, a registered breeder in NSW whose dogs often play with Dozer at the beach. Unlike Dozer, Jaffle comes from a championship line and a long pedigree of award-winning Golden Retrievers. It all sounds very impressive on paper, although in this section, he will be judged based on very different criteria!
-
Who are his parents? Jaffle’s mother is Clem, one of Dozer’s Golden Retrievers who used to frolic on the Bayview dog beach every weekend in his wilder youth. His father is Linirgor Tomich (“Tommy”), who lives in Falkirk, Scotland. Tommy is British Champion and Best Stud Dog in 2025. 😳 I know, right??!!

-
What do you feed him? I am currently feeding Jaffle dog food recommended by the breeder – Black Hawk for Large Breed Puppies (kibble) plus Lyka Fresh Lamb Dog Food. I would like to move him to a homemade diet as soon as possible. But I knew that puppies need proper nutrition to help them grow, which I didn’t know, so I wasn’t going to change their diet until I talked to a professional.
Dozer has been eating homemade food since the age of 4, after falling seriously ill from a number of well-known brands of kibble (not Black Hawk! :)). He did it! Everyone, including professional veterinarians, admired the smoothness of his coat and his health in his old age. I’m a big believer in real food for dogs. (And humans 🙂 ). In the end, what took his life were complications related to a neurological disorder (Geriatric Onset Laryngeal Paralysis Polyneuropathy – GOLPP).
-
How old is he? He is 11 weeks old! He was born March 25, 2026. I could have picked him up a few weeks earlier but I was in Japan until the weekend. I can’t believe how much he has grown since I first met him a month ago!

Right at home in the kitchen!
It’s only been 48 hours, but he’s already at home in the kitchen! I have to complete this training. Can’t let him steal food from the kitchen or off the bench – Dozer never does that!!

And although it’s still early days (i.e., still a nervous new puppy owner, so I’m holding back when it comes to food!), I very is pleased to report that Jaffle shows great promise for his future role as Chief Taste Tester at RecipeTin. The proof: enthusiasm for receiving cheese…

….and kale rejection.

He chewed it well, then spat it out and looked at it with the same expression Dozer did, as if he couldn’t believe I was trying to pass it off as food. 😂
The patter of claws
The house sounds different now. Like at home again. The patter of paws on the floorboards, toys scattered in corners, countless wet spots (I forgot how many puppies pee!) and little golden shadows follow me wherever I go.
I know many of you love Dozer, and I hope you’ll love Jaffle too. He has brought so much happiness back into my life, in a short time of 48 hours.
I look forward to watching it grow with you all! ❤️ – Nagix
PS Jaffle is an Australian toasted sandwich made with a special jaffle iron that holds the edges of the bread together when cooked. The filling is trapped inside, creating a crispy golden pocket with hot filling in the middle, and the presence of cheese is a must in my world. I look forward to sharing the recipe with you!!

Remembering Dozer
And with the introduction of the Jaffle came the discontinuation of the Dozer section that somehow became part of every post that you all skipped straight to before even seeing the recipe. You know how secretly happy I am whenever someone admits that. 🥰
I was so scared today, because stopping the Dozer part made it feel so final, like I was going to lose him again.

There will never be a replacement for Dozer. He’s not just my dog, he’s my best friend, my shadow, my best friend, and a huge part of RecipeTin Eats for almost 14 years. So rather than replacing him, I prefer to think of this as passing the baton to the next generation.
So, as Jaffle begins his career as Chief Taste Tester, Dozer will always have a place here. ❤️ Existing Life of Dozer parts will remain, always.

You know I was sobbing while writing this post.
But I just realized something. This is my website, and if I want to share a funny Dozer memory, a photo I saw, or a story that made me smile, I can. So it’s not surprising that Dozer pops up from time to time. He may have retired from official duties, but he can stay here as long as I want to continue sharing about him.
And honestly, I think Jaffle would love to hear a little more about the legends who came before him.
Thank you for years of sharing your excitement about Dozer. Rest in peace, my dear child. I will always love you. ❤️ -Nagi x

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
